Alicia Keys - The Element Of Freedom (Deluxe Edition)

The Element of Freedom is the fourth studio album by American R&B recording artist Alicia Keys, released December 11, 2009, on J Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during May to September 2009 at The Oven Studios in Long Island, New York. Production was handled by Keys, Jeff Bhasker, Swizz Beatz, Noah "40" Shebib, Toby Gad and Kerry "Krucial" Brothers. Departing from the classicist soul music of Keys' previous albums, The Element of Freedom has a mid-tempo, low-key sound and features mostly ballads.

The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 417,000 copies in its first week. It became Keys' first non-number one album in the United States and her first number one album in the United Kingdom. The Element of Freedom was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America within its first month of release and produced five singles that attained moderate chart success. Despite mixed criticism towards its low-key style and Keys' songwriting, the album received generally positive reviews from most music critics. It has sold 1,391,300 copies in the United States and four million copies worldwide. Keys supported album with a world tour, The Freedom Tour.

Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me - Single

"Hold It Against Me" is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears, released as the first single from her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale. It was written and produced by Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Billboard, with additional writing by Bonnie McKee. Luke explained that he wanted "Hold It Against Me" to sound unlike his previous productions. The song was going to be offered to Katy Perry, but Luke and Martin felt that it did not suit her. A demo version of the track by McKee was leaked on January 6, 2011, and the single became available for streaming on January 10, 2011. It was released the following day.

Musically, "Hold It Against Me" blends pulsating industrial and trance beats with elements of grime. The chorus has lilting synths that lift her vocals and contrast them with the hard beats. The song features a dubstep-influenced breakdown, in which Spears moans and blows kisses, and the song ends with a final chorus with elements of rave. The lyrics portray the singer seducing someone on the dancefloor, and the chorus revolves around pick-up lines. After the song was released, The Bellamy Brothers criticized it for being similar to their 1979 hit "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me". They were sued by Martin, Luke, McKee and Billboard for defamation and libel, but the case was dismissed after The Bellamy Brothers apologized.

It also appeared on Billboard's component charts, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Dance/Electronic Albums.

Avril Lavigne - What The Hell (JAPAN SINGLE)

"What the Hell" is a song by Canadian recording artist Avril Lavigne, taken as the lead single from her fourth studio album Goodbye Lullaby. The song, written by Lavigne with its producers Max Martin and Shellback was released on 10 January 2011 as the lead single from Goodbye Lullaby. According to Lavigne, she wrote the song as her "personal message for freedom".

The song is a pop punk, pop rock and pop song, set in a moderately fast tempo. Upon its release, "What the Hell" received mostly positive reviews from music critics with many complimenting its catchiness and comparing it to her 2007 single "Girlfriend". The song was successful, reaching number one in Japan, the top five in Asia, the Top 10 in Europe, Australia, South America, Mexico, Canada, and the Top 20 in the US and UK, peaking at eleven and sixteen, respectively. It received generally positive reviews from music critics.

An accompanying music video for the song was directed by Marcus Raboy and premiered on January 23. It shows Lavigne who is running from her love interest. The video also makes product placement for Sony and Abbey Dawn. "What the Hell" was performed by Lavigne on several television programs such as Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, Daybreak, The View, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and on some award shows such as Much Music Video Awards, America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent. Additionally she added the song on the setlist of her The Black Star Tour (2011).

Alesha Dixon - The Entertainer

The Entertainer is the third studio album by English recording artist Alesha Dixon. It was released on 26 November 2010 in the United Kingdom by Asylum Records, and Atlantic Records in the United States. The album's lead single, "Drummer Boy", was released on 5 September 2010. The album's second single, "Radio", was released on 28 November 2010. The album was originally planned to be named Unleashed, however the plans were scrapped and The Entertainer was decided upon instead.

The Entertainer has a different sound to Dixon's previous album, The Alesha Show, which gained a platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry. She decided to rap in some of the album's songs again, like she once did as member of girl band Mis-Teeq.[3] She worked with producers such as Rodney Jerkins, Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie), Jim Beanz, and Soulshock & Karlin during the recording of the album.

Ciara - Basic Instinct

Basic Instinct is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Ciara, released from December 10, 2010 by LaFace Records (Jive). Executively produced by A&R agent Mark Pitts, Ciara, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, Basic Instinct returnes Ciara to her urban roots with mid-tempo R&B cuts and bass-heavy dance songs. Aside from production by Stewart and The-Dream, Ciara collaborated with production by Soundz, Infinity and T-Minus. Frequent collaborator and friend Ludacris makes a guest vocal appearance, as does labelmate and fellow Atlanta-native, Usher. After previous album Fantasy Ride (2009) suffered numerous leaks and pushbacks, information about Basic Instinct was kept confidential until the first single and album were complete.

Despite keeping more control of the album's contents, Basic Instinct still suffered several pushbacks due the leaking of songs from the album's recording sessions, much like its predecessor. Three singles preceded the album's release including the Ludacris-assisted lead single "Ride", which peaked within the top five on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at number three and the Billboard Hot 100 at number forty-two. The other singles, "Speechless" and "Gimmie Dat" failed to impact more than "Ride", and all the singles failed to impact significantly on international single charts. Basic Instinct was well received by critics, on average scoring seventy-two out of 100 according to Metacritic. Most critics praised the eleven-track set for its strong productions and cohesive themes, which drew comparisons to the early career of Janet Jackson. However, there were criticism towards the dated and unoriginal sound of the album as well Ciara's soft vocals being overshadowed by the album's production.

Basic Instinct debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at number forty-four with 37,000 copies sold, becoming the lowest selling debuting album of Ciara's career so far and continuing a downward trend in her commercial success. In international territories the album was also unsuccessful, most notably reaching top-thirty on the Australian Urban Chart and the UK R&B Chart. On February 14, 2011, just two months after the album's release, Ciara published a statement detailing the issues she experienced with Basic Instinct. She detailed how she alone paid for the music video for the album's third single and how the label refused to promote the singles on U.S. radio stations. Ciara openly criticsed her label for the lack of support with Basic Instinct, as well as her previous albums, and asked to be released from her contract with LaFace Records (Jive), as a result.

Travie McCoy - Lazarus

Lazarus is the debut album by Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travie McCoy, released on June 8, 2010. McCoy announced his plans to pursue a solo career in early 2010, although he insisted that Gym Class Heroes had not broken up. After creating demos of melancholy and low-tempo songs, McCoy decided to abandon his early material and start over, as he claimed the songs were "too personal". He began to write more uptempo "party anthems" with lyrical themes of overcoming grief. Musically, McCoy draws from various influences on the record, including hip-hop, reggae, and rock. The album contains collaborations from Bruno Mars, Cee Lo Green, and T-Pain, among others.

Upon its release, Lazarus debuted at number twenty-five on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with sales of 15,000 copies. The lead single from the album was "Billionaire", which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The songs "Need You" and "We'll Be Alright" have also been released as singles. Critical response to the album has been mixed to positive, with most critics praising the album's upbeat songs yet criticizing the overabundance of featured collaborations. Gregory Heaney of Allmusic opined that "Even though every track on the album isn’t a keeper, it has some solid additions to any summer playlist and will definitely please fans of Gym Class Heroes."

The album was preceded by the release of JoJo's debut single, "Leave (Get Out)", which achieved critical and commercial success worldwide. In the US, the single peaked inside the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and also topped the Pop 100 singles chart, making her the youngest artist in history to achieve this. In the United Kingdom, the single also performed well, reaching a peak of number two. Follow-up single "Baby It's You" featured rapper Bow Wow and became JoJo's second top 40 hit in the US. In the UK, the song became her second Top 10 hit, peaking at number eight. The single also reached the top ten of New Zealand, climbing to a peak of number ten. The third and final single, "Not That Kinda Girl" was released internationally only. However, it did see a minor release onto US radio. Due to the lack of a physical copy, the single failed to chart in the US, becoming her first to do so. The single did manage to chart in Australia and Germany, however, the chart performance of the song was an overall failure.

The album debuted and peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart selling 95,000 copies in its first week. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on November 15, 2004, denoting US sales in excess of one million copies. The album also proved to be a success elsewhere. In the UK, the album has been certified gold. The album received the same certification in Germany, while in Canada, the album was certified platinum. JoJo was promoted mainly through live, televised performances. JoJo appeared on shows such as On Air with Ryan Seacrest as well as performing at the 2004 Kid's Choice Awards. Aside from network appearances, JoJo also embarked on a Mall Tour with other artist, and went on a European tour with Usher.

Kesha worked with a variety of producers and writers such as such as the executive producer Dr. Luke, Benny Blanco, Ammo, Max Martin, Bangladesh and others. Musically, the songs on Cannibal are of the dance-pop genre while incorporating elements of electro and electropop in their production and beats. Throughout the album, the use of Auto-Tune and vocoders is prominent. Lyrically, the songs on Cannibal speak of ignoring judgement or hate and experiences based on love and heartbreak.

Cannibal received generally positive reviews from music critics. However, a common complaint amongst critics was the overuse of Auto-Tune, while the album's production was generally highlighted. The album's lyrics generally polarized music critics; some praised her boldness, while others criticized them as being too raunchy. In the United States, the EP reached a peak of fifteen selling 74,000 copies in its first week of release. In Canada, the album achieved similar success reaching a peak of fourteen on the chart. Ke$ha - Animal

Animal is the debut studio album by American pop singer Kesha. The album was released on January 1, 2010, by RCA Records. Kesha worked with a variety of producers and writers such as Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), Benny Blanco, David Gamson, Greg Kurstin, Max Martin, and others. Kesha had been recording demos for several years when one eventually ended up in the hands of Samantha Cox, senior director of writer/publisher relations at BMI. Cox passed along the demo and it ended up in the hands of Gottwald, who decided to have Kesha perform on the song "Right Round". Within two months, the song became a hit in multiple countries around the world. The event led to Kesha being sought after by many major labels, and she eventually signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records.

The album received mixed reviews from music critics. Some appreciated its fun, carefree nature, while others dismissed it as juvenile and said that it seemed insincere. The use of Auto-Tune on the album to alter Kesha's voice was called fun by some critics, while others found it irritating and said it made it difficult to tell if Kesha could actually sing. Lyrically, the majority of the album's songs are based on Kesha's past life experiences of love, heartbreak, boys, and having a good time. Musically, Animal draws from the dance-pop genre, while incorporating elements of electro and electropop in its production and beats. The album attained chart success, debuting at number one in Canada, the United States, and Greece, while charting within the top ten in seven other countries. Animal was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of one million copies and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed at the top for nine consecutive weeks. The song sold 12.8 million digital copies worldwide in 2010, making it the best selling single of the year; it sold 5,633,000 downloads in the United States alone, making it the sixth best-selling song in digital history. Rihanna - Loud (Explicit Version)

Loud is the fifth studio album by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna, first released on November 12, 2010, by Def Jam Recordings. The album was recorded between February and August 2010, predominantly during Rihanna's Last Girl on Earth Tour and filming for her first feature film Battleship (2012). Rihanna was executive producer on the album and worked with several record producers, including StarGate, The Runners, Polow da Don, Tricky Stewart, and Alex da Kid, among others. The album featured several guest vocalists, including Drake, Nicki Minaj and Eminem, who is featured on the sequel to "Love the Way You Lie", "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)", where Rihanna sang lead vocals. Britney Spears appears on the remix of the single version of "S&M", although she is not on the album version.

The album differed from Rihanna's previous release, Rated R (2009), which featured a prominently foreboding and angry tone with dark themes and incorporated elements of hip hop, rock, and dubstep music genres. Loud features up-tempo and pop genres, ranging from dance-pop to electro-R&B, and marked her return to her dancehall roots, which was prominent on her earlier albums Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl like Me (2006). The album also incorporates rock in "California King Bed" and reggae in the Caribbean inspired "Man Down".

Loud received generally positive reviews from music critics, who complimented its upbeat material and Rihanna's vocal performances, with some critics calling it "brilliantly sassy and exuberant at times" and praised "the subtle West Indian flavor." However, some critics found the album to be "slapdash" and more of "an unfocused assortment of poor-to-solid songs than a unified set." The album debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first week sales of 207,000 copies, the highest first week sales of her career to date. The album debuted at number one on the Canadian and Swiss Albums Chart. In the United Kingdom, the album reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and was the fourth best-selling album of 2010, although it was released at the end of November of that year. Loud was a commercial success internationally. It peaked at number one in Canada, Ireland, Japan, Norway, Scotland and Switzerland, and reached the Top 5 in Australia, Denmark, France and Germany.

The album produced seven singles, including the international hits "Only Girl (In the World)", "What's My Name?", and "S&M". All three singles reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. "S&M" was Rihanna's tenth US number one song, making Rihanna the youngest recording artist to accumulate ten number one songs in the shortest time, surpassing Mariah Carey's record. In the United Kingdom "Only Girl (In the World)" and "What's My Name?" peaked at number one, while "S&M" peaked at number three. "Only Girl (In the World)" won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in February 2011. To support the album, Rihanna embarked on her third worldwide concert tour, entitled the Loud Tour. On November 30, 2011, the album was nominated for three Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.

Almost Alice (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Almost Alice is a collection of various artists' music inspired by Tim Burton's film, Alice in Wonderland. The album is also notable for featuring songs that were either inspired from quotes directly from Lewis Carroll's original novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. For example, both "The Lobster Quadrille" (by Franz Ferdinand) and "You Are Old, Father William" (by They Might Be Giants) are both word-for-word performances of poems from the original Alice as quoted by The Mock-Turtle (the former) and Alice herself to the Caterpillar (the latter). Furthermore, "Very Good Advice" by Robert Smith is a cover of Kathryn Beaumont's "Very Good Advice" from Disney's original animated version of Alice in Wonderland.

The album was released on March 2, 2010. It debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 US albums chart. On June 1, 2010, iTunes released a deluxe edition of the album. The lead single, "Alice" by Avril Lavigne is played during the end credits of Alice in Wonderland, and is the only song of the album featured in the film. It premiered on January 27, 2010 on the radio program On Air with Ryan Seacrest. The second single was the song "Tea Party" by Estonian pop singer Kerli. "Follow Me Down", a track from the album by 3OH!3 featuring Neon Hitch, has also been released as a single.

Although it sold 8,000 copies more than her debut album, In a Perfect World..., it failed to match that album's debut chart position of number four. No Boys Allowed also debuted on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at number seven, and at number ten on the UK R&B Albums Chart. The album's lead single, "Breaking Point" was released in the United States on September 7, 2010 and peaked at number forty-four on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Paul McCartney - Live In São Paulo (Second Night)

Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again

Here We Go Again is the second studio album by American recording artist Demi Lovato, released on July 21, 2009, through Hollywood Records. Unlike her previous effort, Don't Forget (2008), Lovato did not enlist help from the Jonas Brothers as she wanted to work with different people and give the album a personal approach. She collaborated with established songwriters and producers such as E. Kidd Bogart, Gary Clark, Toby Gad, John Mayer, Jon McLaughlin and Lindy Robbins. The majority of the album was produced by John Fields, who helmed production on Don't Forget. Lovato penned a song called "For the Love of a Daughter" with The Academy Is... lead singer William Beckett about her relationship with her estranged father, but the subject was deemed too intense for her young audience, and it was removed from the album's track listing. The song was later passed on to her third studio album, Unbroken (2011).

Musically, Here We Go Again derives mainly from the genres of pop rock and power pop, mixed with influences of R&B and synthpop. Lovato wanted the album's music to be less rock and more mellow than her previous album, while exploring more mature sounds and lyrics. Critical reception of the album was positive; critics praised Lovato for not relying on vocal manipulations and instead showing off her natural ability. Although some critics called the album catchy, others felt that it was predictable and at times too much alike Kelly Clarkson. Here We Go Again sold 108,000 copies during its first week of release in the United States and debuted atop the Billboard 200. Since its release, the album has sold 450,000 copies in the US. Internationally, the album peaked inside the top 40 on charts in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Greece, Mexico, New Zealand and Spain.

Two singles were released from Here We Go Again. The title track was released in June 2009 and was Lovato's first solo single to crack the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 15. The album's second and final single, "Remember December", was released in international markets in January 2010 and managed to peak at number 80 on the UK Singles Chart, but failed to chart elsewhere. The album track "Gift of a Friend" was released as a promotional single in December 2009 due to its inclusion on the soundtrack for the animated film Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure. To further promote the album, Lovato embarked on her first headlining tour, Summer Tour 2009.

The album incorporates several different musical styles including R&B, pop, electropop, and synthpop.

Bionic is Aguilera's first studio album in four years since Back to Basics (2006). Upon release in the United States, the album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart with sales of 110,000 copies. It had mixed success in the United Kingdom, where it debuted at number one with the lowest single-week sales in eight years before registering the largest single weekly decline for a number one album in UK chart history. Upon release, the album received mixed reviews from most music critics, who were ambivalent towards its musical direction and Aguilera's lyrical persona.

The lead single from Bionic, "Not Myself Tonight", premiered on March 30, 2010 via Aguilera's official website. The song was officially released as a single on April 13, 2010, and charted within the top 40 in most countries. The second single, "Woohoo", featuring Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj, was sent to US rhythmic radio on May 18, 2010, and failed to make much of an impact, only charting at number seventy-nine on the US Billboard Hot 100, due to digital sales. The third and final single, "You Lost Me" was released on June 29, 2010.
